Training

Yampa Fire joint training with Oak Creek Fire

Yampa Fire's committment to safety for our volunteers and the public we interact with drives our training program.   Even as volunteers we still complete at least 36 hours annually of training.  This ongoing training allows us to be ready at a moments notice to respond to any emergency that may arise.  With ongoing training we are able to keep our skills sharp and teach new volunteers "on the job".  With two training nights a month and additional training days throughout the year, we rotate training material based on the season and upcoming needs.

In addition to our in house training, volunteers are encouraged to attend outside training opportunties at no cost to them.

Our EMS division maintains a minimum of 40 hours of continuing education(CE) every two years to meet the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician requirements.  This is done using both online modules and in-person hands on training.   Each EMT is responsible for maintaining their credentials with the departments help.
